Staatsolie concludes production-sharing contracts for two offshore blocks On 13 July 2017, Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. concluded production-sharing contracts for two offshore blocks. For Block 59, an agreement was signed with a consortium consisting of the oil companies ExxonMobil, Hess Corporation and Statoil. With Statoil a contract was signed for Block 60.

PSC Agreements Blocks 59 & 60

Staatsolie and the consortium consisting of ExxonMobil, Hess and Statoil have reached agreement regarding a PSC for Block 59 offshore Suriname. At the same time an agreement was reached with Statoil for Block 60. The blocks were awarded to the consortium and Statoil as a result of Staatsolie’s ‘Open Door Policy Offshore Suriname’. Parties expect to sign the PSC’s no later than the second week of July 2017. On 15 September 2017 the ‘Open Door Policy Offshore Suriname’ will reopen, and interested companies will again have the opportunity to submit proposals for the open offshore acreage.

3D Seismic Survey Block 58 finished

The 3D seismic survey in Block 58 was successfully completed on 29 September 2016. The survey covered an area of approximately 6,100km2 and was conducted by the Polarcus Alima.

DRADEM Scientific Cruise

From July 5th until July 20th 2016 the DRADEM scientific cruise, part of a larger scientific research program, was successfully executed with the research vessel Pourquoi pas?. IFREMER, INSTITUT FRANCAIS DE RECHERCHE POUR L’EXPLOITATION DE LA MER, conducted this rock dredging project along the northern slope of the Demerara Plateau in order to identify the rocks that form the basement of the Demerara Plateau in the exclusive economic zone of Suriname.

Dropcore Survey Offshore Suriname

Tullow Suriname B.V. will conduct a Dropcore Survey by gathering seabed sediment samples in Blocks 54 and 47,offshore Suriname. The survey vessel RV Proteus (TDI Brooks), currently en route to Paramaribo, will carry out the operations starting in the last week of September 2016 and is expected to last between 7 to 10 days.
